And the Prize goes to...PIG 1 !

We went to the Brookfied Zoo just before school started up.  Pig 1 was very excited to go to the zoo because he wanted to get a good Wildlife photo for the Michigan State Grange Convention this year.

While we were at the zoo we had the best time chatting with the zoo volunteer near the bears.  He was full of information, and good jokes.

Here is his photo.  It not only took 1st, but also got Best in Show and will be traveling on to National Grange.

Classic Dumb Moves

I have a long history of doing dumb ass things.

No idea what's going on here, but I appear to be in a field.  There must be a dumb reason.
This hair cut.  Not one of my smartest moves.
Spending the night on a submarine, dumb ass, but fun.
Why didn't we make tshirts with this logo?
 Wow, fashion!
 Athleticism!  Or complete dumb ass?
 Again with the fashion!
Not the fashion this time, noting the tattoo.  Ok, the Spice girl shoes may have also been questionable.
What dumb ass idea possesed me to take a photo rather than wipe this kid's face??

Sure, you've been along for the ride on some of them, and you're right, it's usually fun.  But yesterday, yesterday!  Although not in my top 10 of dumb things, it was a lot all at once.

I got sent home from work.  No, not for swearing.  For being unusually quiet and possibly too sick to be there.

When I got home, I realized my house keys were safely locked in the house.  Sometimes when this happens I will have also forgotten to lock the back door.  No such jack assery for me!  Locked.

In normal Snotty fashion I had stuff to drop off to a local charity in the back of my car.  Luckily this batch included a nice, cozy blanket.  I took a nice nap in my car.  I felt 19 again! My spare house key came home around 2 hours later with Pig 1.

Next we did a good deed and dropped off food to our local food bank. (That was not dumb ass, that was nice.)

Since the day had gone sort of weird, I decided to do some fall tidying.  I decided to wash all the Fall jackets and put them in storage.  When I was putting the jackets in the dryer, I found my car keys. You know, the cool key that has the security system thing attached and has the switch blade style key that I like to flip in and out when I get all nervous, or gouge stuff with?  Which I had washed.

Now, the house keys I can manage to put where they belong so well that I forget to take them anywhere with me.  But the car key...dumb ass.

After that I decided it was in my best interest to sit in one location and work on a new baby blanket.

Sadly, it's a giant acrylic granny square blanket.  Maybe that's also a bad idea.

Pay it Forward-No, not the movie

Ok, here is something I haven't done in quite some time.  Why, make friends and influence people of course!  No, honestly, be good, and or nice.

I swiped all of this Pay it Forward action from my sweet friend Sandy over at Living in Red and she got it from Making Rebecca Lynne:

Pay It Forward Blog Game
  1. I  will make a little something for the first 3 people who comment on this post. It will be a surprise and you will not know when it will arrive.

  2. I will have 365 days to get this surprise to you. The catch? To get a goodie from me you must play along too! Share the giving love on your blog by promising to send a handmade goody to the first three people comment on your blog post.

  3. You must therefore have a blog!

  4. After commenting on my post, you have to go post this on your blog.

See, it's nice, and it doesn't require a blood donation or the cash equivalent. Get it, the price of blood donation is priceless, like Hope Diamond priceless.  I mean, if I had the Hope Diamond, I probably would give it to you, but only because it would be hot.

Really, save me from my evil ways!  Comment, spread the love, pay it forward.

PS I hope you aren't expecting mittens from me.  I have yet to make a matching size pair.

Fall, Orchards and Blankets

What have the Ogre, Pigs and Snotty been up to?  I'm going to go with ADVENTURE!  Although Pig 1 may vote for acting like embarrassing parents.

We recently took the Pigs to Gull Meadows Apple Orchard Extravaganza.  I believe their official name is actually Gull Meadows Farms, not Apple Orchard Extravaganza.  But if the extravaganza fits...

Whatever haters, we also went out and picked apples, from trees, not just off a display shelf.  The pumpkins, well, we did at least see some growing in a field.

Plus, we did manage to grow one rogue pumpkin this year.  I was really impressed with it's ability to steal other pumpkins powers.

Look! Yarn...

This great big ball of mess is my entry into the Zombie Prom Date Knitters' Fall Crochet A Long.

We're working on a pattern by Michele Storm, the:

9 pointed Round Ripple with Solid Center

I bought this yarn from Joann Fabric.  I have a problem with Joann's.  They always have these GIANT skeins of Bernat yarn for like $8.99!  I don't care if it's the cotton version, or the acrylic version, I need it!  It's 400 million yards of possibilities!  Possibilities for stuff.  Useful stuff that people need.  Ok, maybe they don't want, but totally need.

Now, I should go so I can tackle the 1600 million yards of possibilities that the cat has scattered about the living room.

Art Prize...It's not too late!

My fellow zombie slayer, Bec, wondered aloud one day "I wonder who could skip work and go to

with me?"  In true slayer fashion, I said "I am all about skipping work to see art!"

The plan was, get in the car, go north on 131, take a downtown Grand Rapids exit, see art.  (Art is a state of mind in this case and not some random dude.) En route we added find a convenient place to park to plan.

To some, this may seem like a poor plan.  But for those hell bent on adventure, it's a perfect plan.

Let me break it down for you.
1. Drive north on 131
2. Take Downtown Grand Rapids Exit
3. Park at Grand Valley University Parking Ramp
4. See ART!!
As we exited the parking ramp, we saw art.  The dog is art, not the guy.  He was later eaten by the art.

Because we were intrepid explorers, we wandered and found art.  This also translates into "Map? We don't need no stinking map!"
No! Bec! NO!!!!  That chair is not your Goldilock's size!

I personally funked this up.  I love to touch art.

No, really, I love to touch art.  Sometimes I get in trouble for it.  Ask the security guards at either the Grand Rapids Public Museum or the Art Institute of Chicago.

What is Art Prize, you ask?  It's amazing!
It's community!

Look!  Zombie Prom Date Knitters are part of an ART installation!

It's FUN!!
So, now you are totally jealous of Bec and I.  No, really, you are.  I highly recommend you completely skip work and go see ART.  It's also available on the weekends, but really, skipping work to go see art is your last ditch chance to be sort of punk rock.

NOW GO! Art Prize ends October 9th!!

Do the Zombie Prom Date Knitters want to be a part of Art Prize 2012?  Hells YES!  Plus...we've got some ideas.
