So, get your work clothes ready, it's time for the Zombie Prom Date Knitters Spring Highway Clean up!!

                                                               ZPDK Summer 2009

Our first scheduled clean up meet up is April 10.  If you would like to join in the fun, please contact me, or check out our thread on Ravelry for more information.  Yes, sometimes there are zombies, but you are with the right group of people if you come across any.

What we Learned from Lost-Nothing

The Ogre and I were watching Lost last night.  Since the very beginning we would watch it and say "Boy, that Island sure is mysterious."

Don't worry, if you didn't watch it last night, and plan on it, I won't be giving anything away.

So, here's what we learned from last night's Lost episode:

Richard is really pretty.

Richard looks really pretty swarthy.

Lost is less annoying than American Idol even when crazy crap is going on.

Boy, that Island sure is mysterious.

Not Snotty?

It's difficult to be all snotty and sassy when so many cool things are coming up.  No, I'm not just talking about the crocus and daffodils.

April 1st I will actually earn my title as Wonder Intern.  Yep, helping out Andrea with the Wonder Why Alpaca herd!  Oh, you want to come mock me?  It's the Indiana Alpaca Invitational.  I really hope to see you there!  Not so you can mock, but because alpaca are really cool.

May 22nd FatCatCrochet will be joining us!  No, really FatCat is totally going to show up and hang out with the rest of the ZPDKs and then help out with the Wonder Why Alpaca Farm Alpaca Shearing.

Oh, you don't need to worry about FatCat's ability to deal with zombies, she's been keeping SC safe.

Thanks for reminding me!

I have two dogs.

Copper has his own chair and blankie!

I love them.  Sometimes I will pet the big dog, other times I will pet the little dog.

Something happened this morning that reminded me that I forgot to about something yesterday.  I forgot to snuggle little dog extra.  How do I know?  He pissed on my knitting bag, again.

So, today, if you need me, I'm out walking the dog, the little dog.

Knit Undies? YES!!

I'm usually up to no good, but this time, well, again, it's just no good.

Due to some strange alignment of the stars, the Zombie Prom Date Knitters are doing a knit a long.  Oh, that's not the odd part, we love a good KAL, charity challenge or bottle of rum.  No, it's the pattern...

What are we all going to do with these?

Actually, I'm kind of thinking they would look cool all strung together.  You know, like a  panty prayer flag.

This was a part of Fiber Arts Friday!  For more interesting tales of knitting, spinning, quilting, x stitch and other sorts of fibery fun check out our host Wonder Why Gal.  Better yet, go there and link in your own Fiber Arts Friday Post!

It's not all knitting and napping

Yesterday was full of ADVENTURE!

After a big night of partying with the Yo Gaba Gaba crowd, and joy riding in a Kia all night

things were a little dirty.

It was up to me to round up all party animals and get them clean.

There was some resistance.

Snot, Again.

In true knit with snot fashion, Pig 3 is covered in snot.  Oh, faint of heart, don't worry, I'm not posting Pig Baby of Snot again.  But the link does take you there.

So, whatever shall be done about a day filled with snot?

I can guarantee there will be no house cleaning.

It might be a problem

This time of year people talk about the return of the robins, and the melting of snow.  Not here my friends, because I have ALPACA MADNESS!!
I don't care what season it is.  I've got my alpaca fluff and yarn, and I'm going to use it no matter the weather.  I loves it Precious, yes, yes, loves it.

How does one get ALPACA MADNESS?

It starts innocently enough.  You buy some alpaca fiber. Maybe knit a scarf, or a hat.  Next thing you know it's a shawl.

Then you find yourself hanging out with alpaca.

Soon you'll find you want to get your alpaca fiber straight from the source.
The Wonder Why Gal and Big Smith

Then you're helping by handing out samples, trying to get other people hooked.

Oh, the love of Alpaca is a slippery slope.  First it's alpaca yarn, next thing you know you've got a Peruvian Beauty grazing in the back yard.
But look how pretty!

50% Alpaca, 35% Merino, 15% Bamboo

Pssst, I know where you can score some alpaca.

Sushi and Knitting? Of Course.

How long does it take for a restaurant to get angry at the Zombie Prom Date Knitters?  About 6 Zombie Slayers seated usually does it.  I think it's due to all the carnage, or possibly the yarn bits and fluff.

Either way, we keep slaying zombies, and eating dinner, so there's not a lot we can do.  One place that did love us, after they got used to us, was Kumo Sushi and Hibachi!

Was it love, or just the chance to throw vegetables at us?

Thinking about skipping out on your knitting group's next outing...Don't!  You need a night out with good friends!

Or if you don't a have group, maybe it's time for you to start up your own chapter of Zombie Prom Date Knitters.

Cheers!

This post was part of Fiber Arts Friday!  What?  You saw no fiber arts here?  Well, this was the spirit of Fiber Arts...You know, group, togetherness, fiber fun.  If you are  interested in more fibery things...check out Wonder Why Gal's blog for links to other Fiber Arts Friday partcipants.

Hooded Scarf or Something More Useful?

There was an interview with an actress in which she described her breasts after breast feeding as "floppy dog ears."  Ever since I read that, I felt a certain kindred spirit with her.

So now, I'm knitting the Pfieffer Falls Hooded Scarf available through Interweave Knits

I'm working on the two ends at the same time, which leads people to ask "what are you knitting?"

My answer "floppy dog ear covers."

Time for another Knit A Long!

Another fun time at the Home Grange's Craft Day this Saturday.  If you missed it, you missed a look into the mouth of madness, or the beginnings of the Zombie Prom Date Knitters' next Knit-A-Long.

How does any great plan come together?  Well, if the world was run by ZPDK, it would involve a lot of laughing, and underwear jokes, which leads us to...

Governor and the Zombie Prom Date Knitters

Please note that this was sent to ZPDK  with the misspelling of Michigan done by the State of Michigan.

Kidney Kozies Ahoy!

You've heard the term Kidney Kozy, but you may not know what one is.

What is a Kidney Kozy?
Kidney Kozy-A shawl, lap robe, full sized quilt or afghan used to keep one warm, and give comfort while going through Kidney Dialysis

What's up with the K's?
The Original batch of Kidney Kozies were perhaps called Cozies.  The name was soon changed to Kozy due to the high number of Kidney Kozies being knit at the Koffee Klutch in Galesburg, MI.

Kidney Kozies-over 100 were donated last year!!

Do Kidney Kozies need to be knit?

Oh, gosh no!  Crochet, knit, quilted or fleece.  The main thing is that the Kidney Kozy should be easy care, machine washable.  It's also highly advisable to have fun while making a Kidney Kozy.  Oh, for no reason other than you should love what you do, and do what you love.

A car load of Kidney Kozies

Who participates in the Kidney Kozy Project?
The Zombie Prom Date Knitters-SW Michigan and South Carolina Chapters
Kalamazoo Knit and Crochet Meet Up Group
Home Grange #129

I'd really like to see the Kidney Kozy Project get adopted by the Michigan State Grange, and eventually be supported by National Grange.

I'd also like participation from the National Kidney Foundation, matching dialysis units with local knitting/quilting/community service groups.

Who gets the Kidney Kozies?
Anyone who needs one!  Could be a child, man, woman, young, or old.

So far, we have donated to dialysis units in Kalamazoo and Calhoun Counties.

20 quilts were dropped off yesterday!

How can I help?
Make a kidney kozy!
or
Spread the word about the Kidney Kozy Project!
or
Donate to my National Kidney Foundation Walk Team! Hey, it's coming up and I need help.

I may goof around and have A LOT of fun, but I really am always working on something and trying to help other people.  It makes me feel good to share the fun!

So...for more fun stop by the Wonder Why Alpaca Farm's blog for Fiber Arts Friday!

Zombies-ATTACK

It's like someone placed an order for a zombie army.  Zombies coming across the road, on the play set and half way up the porch. Luckily, I set the dogs on them before they got to the house.
Hey, they're out of practice, it's been a long winter.

Sadly, the problem now is what to do with all the carnage.  I'm thinking a big bon fire.  I love s'mores.

Hey! Guess what day it is!

Well, well, it's someone's special day!  Yes, happy birthday Dr. Seuss.

Actually it's also Marty's birthday,

which means it's this guy's birthday too.
Fresh from hiking...or not so fresh

So happy birthday to Marty and Mel!  May your beards stay full and same thing with your tummy's.

Love,
Holly

Now let's just hope Granddad doesn't swing by to say happy birthday.  He's a grumpy old werewolf.  What you thought only the Ogre had an interesting family background?

Gold Medal knitting...OVER

Olympics are over.  You know what you watched and what you don't care about, so no recaps.

But, in the realm of Ravelympics, well, you're stuck with recaps.
As you know I finished the Clap.

Dog pee was involved, but was it covered in snot too?

Of course it was.

After knitting like a fiend to rid myself of the Clap, I really didn't know what to do with myself.  There was still so much Curling to watch. I mean sure there was napping,

but there was just so much curling coverage.

So, I started, and finished another project.  I mean, sure, it was just a baby sweater, but I made it in 2 days.
Ok, edges to weave in, but the knitting is done

Now that the Olympics are over, what ever will I do?
Get ready for baseball season...

Beer stain?  Nachos?  I don't know either
