So, here's how it goes...Knit/Crochet/Sew a Kidney Kozy (Shawl or Lap robe size)

Snotty for a Reason

Are you working on a Kidney Kozy?

I'm currently working on two. The horse of a different color one

yes, you saw this yesterday, no it's not bigger

and the gee, I hope you have a standard sized poodle you could match while wearing this.

really, this is doomed
to be a kidney kozy

You could say I'm working my ass off on this project, but I took a photo,

and sadly, it's still there, and it's flat and unattractive. I'm going to say it's due to all the time spent knitting.

Sooo, please help me get back on my feet!
(I really just happen to have these photos on my camera.)

Those Kalamazoo Knit and Crochet Meet Up People (again, long name much?) are threatening to out charity us.
Which I don't really think they can now that we adopted a highway and they spent all summer knitting in air conditioning. I'm just throwing that out there.

Anyway, they doing a drawing. For each shawl you get done, you get your name into a hat for a prize.

Well, we have a hat, and we're getting prizes coming in-plus shawls!!!

Andrea of Wonder Why Alpaca Farm has offered up some roving!! If you don't spin, I'll spin it into yarn for you-heeheeheehee

Em and Crystal make hella good cookies, I will buy the supplies if you make some cookies...

I know some local people I may be able to ask for help with prizes. I happen to know a sheep farmer, a smoke house owner who also breeds bunnies and spins, and a cute coffee shop boy.

So there.

Hey, Kentucky Irish, is that a Kidney Kozy I see you working on?

I always have fun

The family and I were in Davison for the Ogre's family reunion.

Tall ones in the back!

No zombies. Zombies and their makers know to steer clear of this event. We just had to fend off mosquitoes the size of vw's.

the fun one and the grumpy one

Plus Darth Vader. We're apparently related to Darth Vader.

Don't kill your brother
even if he is evil

I talked with one of the Ogre's uncles about fixing the front end of my car. He suggested I stopped hitting small woodland creatures, large woodland creatures, birds of flight, fancy and prey. He also added that the Mazda 5 no longer be used as a towing vehicle or to slay zombies. It's making it pull to the right.

The beloved family egg toss.

You can tell I am a married in part of the family, I do not so much find egg toss beloved. I'd rather do water balloon toss.

For some reason, I believe it may have been due to the shortness, and the similar hair cut, or my love of water, the kids decided to constantly shoot me with water. Like all 20 of the kids.
Or maybe it was because I would retaliate, and my aim was shoddy, and they knew I was too short to pick them up and throw them into the pool. Either way, I was an easy target. Asses.

Speaking of asses...

Shut up. It's for sick kidneys. It's to keep them kozy.

kidney kozy part, hell, I lost count

Cinderella, or was it Sleeping Beauty? Neither.

Remember how long it took for me to turn fluff into yarn? I had to practice in secret for like a year? Yeah, well, Andrea buys some alpaca, then a spinning wheel and POOF! She's a spinning whiz!! Check her side of the story...

Ok, it did take a sink full of hooch, and a zombie prom date knitters initiation ritual. What does that involve? Mostly the Ogre being out of the country, oh, yeah and an impromptu slumber party. Ok, the Ogre was hardly out of the country, he was just in Canada. I mean, we're in Michigan, Canada is like our prettier, skinnier sister.

Oooh, did I mention we also had a Thank ALL Things Fluffy I-94 Clean Up is Over Drawing?

Yep...Prizes for those who worked. Sadly, I put some of the prizes in a safe place. Which means the Panera $10 gift card is currently MIA.

So although Chrysler Crystal won the Panera (not Pantera) card, she has to wait until I find it.

Here brother John came up winner of the McDonald's Dollar Menu card. Mel won the $2 off your next visit to Chili's. Our big winner of the night, well, who was actually there was was who got a prize that wasn't in a safe place was our very own Kentucky Irish! You lucky beast!

I can guarantee you that something spinning related was being said at this point.

Something like, hole, balls, fluff, shaft, or the ever popular orifice. Look it up, these are legitimate spinning wheel terms. Funny, funny and taking inappropriately and mocked every time, legitimate spinning wheel terms.

What's up with these guys?

Slumber parties wear out Pigs and dogs.
When are you ZPDK's coming over for spinning lessons again? It's hard to wear out Pig 3 and a Beagle/Jack Russel Terrier Mix. Really, when are you coming over again?

Just go be good

People ask me why I volunteer.

I didn't donate my kidney to my Dad, my brother did. I've been trying to make other peoples' lives better ever since. Because what Carter did was so generous and good, I've been trying to be more generous and good. You know, because I'm evil by nature and I really have to work hard against that.

Now, go check Andrea's post.

I donate blood.

I'm registered to be an organ donor with Donate Life. Michigan Donate Life

I'm a registered with Be the Match as part of the Bone Marrow Donor Program.

People ask me why I knit. My knitting may being of questionable beauty, but, it makes people feel better.

I think I should be asking you why you don't volunteer.

"But I don't want to/can't give blood, donate organs, bone marrow."

Shawls for Hope Lodge
-
The Zombie Prom Date Knitters are currently making 10 x 10 blue squares to stitch together as a blanket/shawl for a Hope Lodge Patient or two.

Jeanne works with visually impaired kids to make dog biscuits, they then sell the treats and donate the money to the SPCA. Double whammy. Helping kids, and dogs.

Now go, be the change. Besides, it's good for you, it builds character. Now do you know why I'm such a character?

Do I Knit?

Hell's yes. I knit.

But sometimes, I spin.

I've been spinning.

Mostly spinning because I can't see straight. I think sucking down all that semi exhaust has done something to my brain.

It's that or the rum and coke I've been drinking to ease the pain from the, you guessed it, highway clean up.

The Ogre was asked how long I was going to milk this whole road clean up thing. I said until I could walk straight.

He said I never walked straight, and pointed to the wobbly lines I mowed in our lawn. I said we're definitely going to need more rum then.

Done-Done-Done...We Care A Lot!

Zombie Prom Date Knitters have Slayed again!!! This time sections 84-86 of West and East bound I-94.
Align Center
We only had one casualty.

It's ok. It was Mel demonstrating what happened to the person who had the 1 God plate. From the look of their vanity plate, they went straight to their Eternal Splendor. Should they really have a vanity plate in the first plate? Is that what lead to the smiting?

During the 4 days of road side clean up I kept thinking about the movie Stand by Me.

"You four-eyed pile of shit! "
"A pile of shit has a thousand eyes."
"And Lardass just sat back and enjoyed what he'd created-a complete and total barf-o-rama "

(they just don't teach you how to swear at the movies anymore. That stuff is awesome. I really picked up the swearing in the 80's and 90's. Here, Heathers and Four Weddings and a Funereal-some of the best swears EVER.)

No, I really mean this line

"You guys wanna go see a dead body?"

We found a lot of exciting things along the highway. This was just part of yesterday's haul, safety devices, Japanese newspapers, and Zombie Slaying devices!

See Spinsanity's post, or Wonder Why Gal's if you haven't yet.

Plus Ticks, people brought home ticks. Sorry Bec! Sorry Mel! Other people that won't admit it, I'm sorry for you too!

I TOLD YOU TO SPRAY!!!
“No, INNER, spray the inner…I don’t want no ticks up there in my stuff!”

How do you wear out teenagers? Put them to work.

I suggest road clean up. Or corn detasseling. They will be happy to go back to school.

Spinsanity "true friends are those still willing to sit next to each other after picking enough trash to make us cry"

Check the feast! I may never be able to have a picnic without the roar of semi's again!

What's enough bags of garbage to make us cry?
263 bags of garbage. 7-8 people picking up each of 4 days.

Thank you to our great crew, everyone who came out to help! Without you, it would still be a nasty dirty highway of filth.

Thanks to our new MDOT friends to. You guys are a riot! Keep up the good work!

As for the litter bugs: CURSE YOU!!

One last quote from Stand by Me:

"I never had any friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?"

I know I do.

MDOT, Wonder Why Farm, Vests=FUN!!!

Well, the Zombie Prom Date Knitters Road Crew really missed you today. Spinsanity, Em, Crystal with an H, Alice and I and then...

We had Rebecca at our Bec and call. We had to break her away from making another Helena sweater! I need to take a break and help with the Helena Clad baby Army!!

Then we had Andrea join us. She even thought to bring hats for those of us who forgot. Hurrah! for Wonder Why Alpaca Farm!

For a SERIOUS review of the day's work, check out Wonder Why Gal Andrea's blog. Plus, more exciting photos, like this one I lifted!

Yes, that's my bedazzled vest. Guess who was impressed with the quality and awesome of said vest?

MDOT guys!!! That's right, the MDOT guys thought we were AWESOME. We picked up so much trash, they had to go dump it, and come back! They also said we were the best looking work crew they'd ever seen. Yeah, I think they just wanted some hand knits, or bedazzled vests. But, a compliment, is a compliment.

Wait that's not all! We had a lovley picnic lunch of chicken salad sandwiches from Good to Go Cafe at the rest stop. Food tastes better after a dirty job. I bet Mike Rowe's food tastes good a lot!

Sooo, do you want in on this fun? You might find a motorcycle, or, well, at least the plate.

We're meeting up again, tomorrow at 930 am at the same rest stop...JOIN US!!!

Hummus and pita for snack! Maybe brownies?

Hey, I don't just do road work...I've been spinning too!

It's orange and pink.
